Mother's Day Gift Ideas

browneyedgal

Mother’s day is coming up in about two weeks, May 10, and I want to share some of my gift ideas! May is normally a busy month for my family because my mom celebrates her birthday, mother’s day, and wedding anniversary. My dad calls it the triple crown. Due to the current shelter-in-place, I will be ordering all her gifts online or doing curbside pick-up. Here is my list below!

books

Books are my go-to gift idea when I can’t think of anything else to get. I always check Reese Witherspoon and Oprah’s Book Clubs to see what they recommend. If there is a local bookstore that is doing online orders, please support them! Bookshop.org is also a great place to purchase from because a percentage of the sale will support local bookstores.

flowers

Deliver some beautiful flowers to your mom! Who doesn’t like getting flowers? Farmgirl Flowers has beautiful bouquet arrangements and they deliver! If you are located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Golden Fields Floristry is also creating mother’s day bouquets for pick-up or contactless delivery. The arrangements are a bit pricier, but it would be supporting small business during this difficult time. I follow them on Instagram and I know that most of their weddings were cancelled so they are trying other ways drive business.

If you want to save some money, you could purchase a nice small plant. Sometimes bouquets and flower delivery costs can add up and some nurseries are still open. I’ve also found some great deals at Trader Joe’s too!

liquor

Buy a bottle of your mom’s favorite wine or tequila! There are so many local wineries, breweries, and distilleries that we should support right now. I am planning to purchase a pre-made cocktail from Hanson of Sonoma Distillery to pick up and deliver myself (keeping social distance). They have a variety of cocktail choices…I’ll probably buy one for myself too. :)

dessert

My mom loves See’s Candies and she will definitely be getting a box this May. You could also bake something for your mom. What’s her favorite dessert? Make it for her! It’s always extra special when something is handmade. There is a great article about how to safely share baked goods during social distancing on marthastewart.com.

Whether you will be with your mom or not this year, make her feel special! Spread the love!

XO,

Elena
